PURDUE OUTING CLUB ADVENTURE RACE!
Jan 13-15, MLK Weekend
The POCAR is an all-out all-weekend(3-day) race combining orienteering
ability with phisical fitness and endurance. The first team to reach
each check-point, navigating off-trail by map and compass, and cross the
finish line first wins. There might be a few challenges at a few
of the check-points to make things even more interesting. Expect
to hike somewhere on the order of 40 miles that weekend, and get very little
sleep! Also, because the race is in January it might be cold.
We will deliver a list of required equipement for teams and individuals
to each competitor soon.
ALL teams will be coed and randomly assigned by the race coordinators
(bryan scott and I).
Last day for sign up is this Tuesday (10/31/00).
Feel free to send me an email to sign up with the following info: Name,
Email, Phone, Sex, Ability (1-10), and weather you want to be a team leader
or not. For ability, just rate yourself from 1-10 based on your orienteering
ability and experience.
So far we have almost 30 competitors sign up. I hope that everyone can
participate!
